Being a collector of art pencils/pens/markers, I saw these as something different. I have yet to have watercolor pencils before and was anxious to see what it was all about. First off, I liked all the colors that came in the pack – 48 colors which means 48 different things to color! The color “lead” so to speak, is very gentle, so the slightest push, for instance, if you want to color heavy with one color, it may break easily.
I had the happen with a couple of colors; but I guess that is why they give you a free compact pencil sharpener located underneath the bottom flap.
One small issue I believe I found was the fact that they came in a package similar to that of a crayon box. Anyone that has used crayons knows that it can be a downright pain to get them out when they are packed in a single row. I may purchase a clear tote at the store to transfer them into for easy handling. Other than that, these work out great.
They can be used as a regular pencil or can be used with water added to the color afterwards. I didn’t have a paintbrush, so I used a cotton swab, and it gave it a nice blended effect.
