I wanted a new charger for my vehicle because you can never have too many, plus my husband is a trucker, so he takes 1 or 2 on the road with him, in case one goes bad, he has a backup.
I like the fact that it isn’t just made to charge USB devices in your vehicle, but it also has the setup to plug into the wall – no grounding prong needed for this device. I started out by charging my phone via the outlet on my surge protector, and my phone was at 58% - about 10 minutes later, it’s already at 64%. To me, that is impressive. The light on the charger has a blue indicator to inform you that it is “on” – light stays on even there is no USB attached to it – it is basically a power indicator.
It came with a universal USB cord, and it is a little over 4.5 feet long. I am not a big fan of long cords, especially when it is charging in my truck. I don’t want the cord to get wrapped around the shifter. I took one of my own smaller cords and keep it in the console for when I take the charger with me – the cord it came with stays inside for “inside” charging, because then I don’t mind the length of the cord.
When charging in my truck, I like the fact that when the vehicle turns off, so does it, because I have a bad habit of leaving things plugged in there.
We have two ports in our truck – one turns off when vehicle has no key in it, and one stays on no matter what – I make sure to plug into the 1st one each time now. The charge time is the same as if it was plugged into an outlet, but if you don’t want that constant blue glow while driving, and your device is fully charged, take it out of the port, or else you will have a mini blue nightlight.
