I have a 55 gallon and a 20-gallon tank, which needed a good cleaning. I have a cleaner that I use, but it was a pain to start. I had to pump the tube up and down in the tank to get it started, and if that didn’t work I had to do the gross thing – I have to suck on the hose end like a straw to get it started and hope that I didn’t get nasty tank water in my mouth.
And a lot of the time, I would have to shake the tube to loosen up the tank gravel that would get stuck up in it and prevent suction.
There are a few things I like about this cleaner. I like the fact that it has a filter that “breaks” down the fish poop, and makes it easier to pass through the hose. The squeeze device located on it makes it easier for me not to have to pump the tube or to “straw” it. What I really like is the nozzle on the end. You can control the flow of water that comes through, not to mention you can even stop it, when you have to go and empty your bucket of dirty water. That way you come back and put it back in the bucket, turn the nozzle back on, give it a squeeze, and you are good to go again.
I will warn you though – do not take out the tube with the nozzle closed and set it down, because it will empty wherever you put it. If you want to take it out with the nozzle closed, I would suggest taking the tube out and let it hover over the tank, that way the hose will drain into the bucket.
