I have dull knifes – who doesn’t? Kitchen knives, pocket knives, etc. I also have a couple of pairs of scissors that are a pain to cut with, so I usually end up tearing or using a knife to open up a bag.
Cutting raw meat to prepare or vegetables for a meal preparation took somewhat longer than expected.
I got this sharpening stone, because it was cheaper than having to replace all of my cutting utensils and scissors. I like that the stone has 2 convenient rubber base holders for each side for easy storage. It comes with a small black silicone base you set it on when it is in use. It is surprisingly non-stick and really hold a grip on the counter top. I didn’t really know how to use one of these, because I never had one that you had to add water to. It comes with 2 different sides: 1000 grit and 3000 grit.
You have to make sure it stays wet, or else it won’t work – I found that out. I took a pair of my scissors and used the 1000 grit – you go at an angle and you go side to side. I did this, and when I was done with both sides, they were better than when I first bought them!
When I was done using the stone, I wiped it down, put the base holders back on either side, wiped down the base mat, and set it on it, and placed it on the corner of my counter.
