Out of all of my art equipment, I realized that one of the things I wasn’t in possession yet was a set of paintbrushes – specifically, watercolor brushes. I looked around and found these, which are great for my undersized hands.
I tested them out on a picture I colored with watercolor pencils. Didn’t do the greatest, more than likely due to it was trying to work with a pencil. So, I found my son’s watercolor set and decided to work with them like that. It turned out a lot better than the pencil experiment did. They are made for acrylic, watercolors, inks, enamels and oil paints.
With this set, it came with 16 detailed brushes. I noticed that they come in 3 different options: a round tipped, liner (for outlining), and spot. The brush handles are similar in thickness to that of a pen refill – very slender and easy to hold, if you have small hands. The bristles are very refined, nothing too extensive, as to lose shape while in use.
I like that when I painted with a couple of the brushes, that the color went on in an effortless motion and didn’t appear to weigh down the bristles, which means no clumping on the bristles as well! They are also trouble-free to clean when you let them soak in clean water after use, and then wiping them down with a small towel or rag. After soaking with some brushes I had in the past, the painted handle would start to chip away when it was soaked in the water. I have had these soak a few times already, and the paint has yet to flake or peel off the handle.
